Sean Coffman, Lutheran Disaster Response

​

Sean Coffman (He/Him) is a 7th generation descendant of German-Irish immigrants who made their

homes in New York, Ohio, and Virginia. He is the son of a military family and the oldest of two boys. As a child of the U.S. Air Force, Sean grew up experiencing a diverse range of

cultures and landscapes, including the forests of Ohio, the Rocky Mountains of Colorado,and the last frontier of Alaska. Before transitioning to long-term recovery with the

Lutherans, he began his disaster work in 2011 with the American Red Cross. By 2012, he was responsible for managing, facilitating, and coordinating the effective delivery of all emergency services programs within a two-state region of nine counties with approximately

300,000 individuals. Delivery programs included preparedness, resiliency, mitigation, response, and recovery topics. Training and education were core to his work, and he is excited to bring his experience and excitement to Lutheran Disaster Response. Sean lives in Fargo, North Dakota, with his wife, Sonya.

Laurie Fried is the Emergency Disaster Services Director for The Salvation Army’s Arkansas -Oklahoma Division. 

She serves as a technical, operational, and logistical leader during the response and recovery phases of disasters occurring in Oklahoma, Arkansas and other states in The Salvation Army’s Southern Territory. Laurie assists with assessing the needs of individuals impacted by disasters as well as establishing a recovery plan that includes priorities, objectives, goals, and standards of care for those impacted. She represents The Salvation Army in meeting with disaster response agencies to prevent duplication of efforts and leverage resources. 

Laurie chairs The Salvation Army Southern Territory Joint Disaster Social Services Task Force. The task force’s focus is to identify long-term recovery best practices and issues.  She represents The Salvation Army on the National Voluntary Agencies Active in Disaster (VOAD) Long Term Recovery Committee and currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Oklahoma VOAD and Member at Large of the Arkansas VOAD.

Kristyne Duffy (She/Hers)

 is currently a National Trainer with Lutheran Disaster Response developing their online training courses and catalogue. In 2011, she graduated from Augustana College with a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology in 2011. After graduating, she joined Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota, working their refugee resettlement program before

transitioning to disaster response in 2018. There, she was part of the Midwest Consortium for Disaster Services project through LDR until it ended in 2022. As Disaster Response

Coordinator, she has assisted more than 50 disaster-impacted communities and participated in multiple declared and undeclared disasters across South Dakota. She is currently a

member of the South Dakota VOAD and previously served as President and Secretary.

Kristyne has over a decade of experience in the social services fields, volunteer

management, training & development, and serving vulnerable populations.
